Heat

The unrelenting sun
Set fire to a stone
Sizzling into vapour
It let no trace be known

A bush became a cloud of smoke
Flame came up from shrivelled grass
Through the heat a wand'rer came
Seeking shade while scorching passed

Rest was found inside a cave
And deep within, a sparkling pool
Once night had taken throne of day
The man emerged and went his way
And every breath was cool
