Syrup (Rap Lyrics)

No syrup, keep your feet up on the stirrup
Staving off the days of faded haze and hurried hiccups
Feeling like I'm feeding back like a guitar pickup
Syrup soaked into wood grain but quickly licked up
Am I drinking this or is this drinking me?
Lost at sea, feeling anything but unshackled and free
Attempt to halt the pour before the waves break the bank
Funny how quick the flesh up and breaks rank
Shadow man's been eyeing up the steering wheel
Trying to tell me he's a figment of my zeal
A conspiracy small in scale, great in damage
Sending SOS's when I'm speaking clear and candid
Crowd gasping at a new social device, not quite
Its bark is far better than its bite
Abstaining from the old socialitish blight
Make myself useful in the day, rest at night
Doctor, doctor, I don't know where I'm at
I told it no already but I found me running back
If you don't want to dance then get off of the floor
Now get out of my office, that's not really what I'm here for
A still body makes a convincing argument
For the dry desert, and taking not a part in it
Lingering in Liquorville, lacking heart in it
Mind wrestling as the stubborn will hardening
Drifting is not liberation, winds testing my patience
Looking up in the sky and see myself blowing down
Abdicating the rowing to the waves of wine and dine
Nothing between here and the end but the sands of time
Sinking needs like a capsized machine
Drowning obligation to the pencil and the creed
Act like a waster, get pulled up like a weed
Should really sow that bag of seed 'fore it turns green
Unrequited passion, liquid laughing while I languish
Straining as I babble, trying to recognize my language
Whatever sense is left attempts to mitigate the damage
While I numbly fumble with a glass of bitter madness
Uproot the tree that's been growing on the skin
Disrupt the community of birds sleeping therein
Look at how a flock of vultures soar out of the din
And tell me, is it really such a complicated thing?
