Wished Away

When the winter leaves me weary
And I search for signs of life
My heart will pine for springtime
And when the spring is at its height
My heart will long for summer
And its joyous golden light

And when the summer months arrive
My heart will look to late July
For summertime to take its bow
And to the autumn pass its crown

And surely then I'll relish
all the colours of the trees
But soon enough my soul will sing
of snow upon the eaves

It seems a rather morbid thing
to wish my time away
Fixed upon the distance
as this day, uncherished, fades
